Authorities are investigating circumstances under which Claude Iyakaremye, a Rwandan national, went missing in Kampala, while Kagame met Kaguta in Kampala last weekend.
The two presidents said “there was no fundamental conflict between Rwanda and Uganda, that security agencies of the two countries must cooperate and make use of technology to solve security matters”.
Iyakaremye’s wife, Beatrice Nyirahabimana says her husband was picked on Sunday evening at Volcano Bus Terminal in Old Kampala.
She claims Iyakaremye was forced into a waiting Toyota Noah brand car registration number UAJ 921G by suspected armed security officials.
“I reported the matter at old Kampala police station on Monday morning but I was advised to check with Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence for further information,” said Nyirahabimana.
Police spokesperson Emillian Kayima referred ChimpReports to army publicist, Brig Richard Karemire.
“As guided by our leaders, the matter should be reported to appropriate offices and without any doubt, it will be given the attention it deserves,” assured Karemire.
Ugandan security services have previously arrested Rwandans to help in investigations.
During a meeting between President Museveni and his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame, it was agreed that security organs of both countries deepen cooperation for mutual benefit.
